At bioXcellerator we offer minimally invasive cell-based treatments that have been shown to help patients in reducing or eliminating chronic pain of musculoskeletal issues.
Autologous stem cell therapy and platelet rich plasma are regenerative medicine modalities being more widely accepted in treating injuries and degeneration of the musculoskeletal system. These cell-based orthopedic treatments can be less invasive and safer alternatives to surgery, including joint-replacement.
bioXgel (PRP)
This treatment uses the patient’s own blood, which is taken with a simple blood draw. Using a special centrifuge machine this blood is spun down to separate out and concentrate the platelets and growth factors that are essential for tissue healing. This small amount of fluid with concentrated platelets and growth factors is called platelet rich plasma (PRP). Nothing else is added to the patient’s own blood products so there is no risk of allergy, reaction or rejection. PRP therapy is a purely natural process using the body’s own healing factors. The trick is getting them to the right place.
The physician then uses a diagnostic ultrasound machine to identify the area within the ligament or tendon that is injured. The newest ultrasound technology provides resolution to see every millimeter of the collagen fibers as well as scar tissue and blood flow to the area. The physician is then able to use a needle to inject the PRP directly into the injured area and even between tightly packed collagen fibers (using intramuscular, subcutaneous, intradiscal, intrathecal, intra-articular methods). The PRP can even be injected directly into very small tears that are sometimes not apparent on MRI. Once these platelets and growth factors are in the area of injury, they then become activated. They also recruit other healing proteins and factors to the area and healing and regeneration of the tissue can now begin.
Stem Cell Therapy and bioXgel (PRP)
The stem cells we use are recollected form Umbilical cord, Bone marrow and adipose tissue. These cells can then be processed in our state-of-the-art laboratory utilizing the latest technology. Finally, the cells, in combination with bioXgel, a natural growth and healing factors, can be injected where they are needed to regrow, repair, or replace damaged or diseased tissue within the musculoskeletal system. Over time, the cells can potentially repair and regenerate the damaged tissues, resulting in relief of pain and improvement in mobility and function.
We understand that the use of stem cells may sound complex, however, stem cell therapy is just the opposite. It is a simple procedure, performed in our clinic during a visit lasting approximately 90 minutes.
